This past year, I ran into a bunch of friends whose kids were gearing up for college. Every single one of them was dealing with the same two headaches:

  1. Dropping $xx,xxx on some “expert” consultant or counselor who did not help
  2. Total confusion around AI - both picking the right school and figuring out career paths that won’t get steamrolled by it.

One of my favorite episodes of Inside The Foundry was the one with Siddharth Gupta. What stuck with me most was how fired up he was about actually guiding kids through this messy transition phase.

My take? Most careers are going to thrive in the AI era — as long as you treat AI as a serious multiplier. Notice I said careers, not jobs.

Lawyers who lean into AI will trample those who don’t. Same for architects: the ones who use AI to design faster, smarter, and at higher quality will dominate. The ones who resist it?

This weekend I vibe-coded a quick 0-to-1 version of an AI Skill Advisor on Replit.

It’s built to help high schoolers, fresh college grads, STEM post-grads, and working professionals start seriously leveling up their AI aptitude.

Right now it covers five core fields: Engineering • Science • Arts & Design • Medicine • Business

Check it out here: Aptifier

It’ll be open source in a day or two if anyone wants to poke around or contribute.

Meanwhile, ideas on how to make it sharper, more useful, or expand it are welcome :)
